On Monday evening, February16, 2015, on the PBS NewsHour, there will be a segment discussing Jehovah’s Witnesses. The PBS NewsHour airs at 6pm in different time zones across the United States. Check the listings!

The web article announcing the radio segment presents a comprehensive, detailed and startlingly evidenced presentation of Jehovah’s Witnesses’ response to child molestation.

The report to be broadcast on PBS is an investigation by Revealnews journalist Trey Bundy and the Centre for Investigative Reporting. Trey Bundy and his team have examined thousands of pages of documents relating to recent cases of child molestation by Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Bundy examines and provides evidence that “the leadership of the Jehovah’s Witnesses – one of the world’s most insular religions – for 25 years has instructed its elders to keep cases of child sexual abuse secret from law enforcement and members of their own congregations.

The Revealnews team have in their possession internal documents that “show that the Witnesses have systematically instructed elders and other leaders to keep child sexual abuse confidential, while collecting detailed information on congregants who prey on children.”

Not since Dateline exposed, the practices and failures of Jehovah’s Witnesses in relation to child molestation has a team put together such a comprehensive and substantiated report.

Irwin Zalkin, attorney for Jose Lopez, describing the system he believes the Witnesses have created said their attitude is, “You come to us first. Don’t tell anybody. … You don’t warn parents in the congregation. We’ll decide what happens here.’ That’s their policy.”
