Australian Government Commission Begins Child Abuse Hearings

Royal-Commission-logoThe citizens and the government of Australia have made it clear that they will no longer allow pedophiles, child abusers, and other criminals to be protected and their crimes hidden by religious organizations. They are currently focusing on Jehovah’s Witnesses and their leaders within the Watchtower Society.

In the following video, the Chief Justice of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse outlines the purpose and goals of the commission.

Beginning July 27, 2015, the Commission began hearings on the practices of Jehovah’s Witnesses. As you watch the videos and read the transcripts, you will see how thorough and prepared the attorneys and legal aides to the commission are throughout hte hearings. The hearing room is populated by dozens of reporters, technicians, and recorders. The proceedings are being broadcast live by streaming video but are apparently not retained after the hearings for later viewing by the public.

John Hoyle, senior editor for this website and webmaster for Barbara Anderson’s Watchtower Documents, ( has been recording the streaming video of the public sessions.  Later that evening the video captures are uploaded to YouTube on the Watchtower Documents’ YouTube channel. In just 72 hours since the hearing began, several thousand viewers have watched the first day’s three videos.

The currently available videos can be found on the Watchtower Documents home page and at the WatchtowerDocuments YouTube Channel. Barbara Anderson will also be archiving the hearing transcripts and released exhibits.

Early response to the hearing has been exceptional for the work and manner of the Commission. Not so much for the testimony of the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ side. Some of the comments about the elders who have appeared so far have included:

“Like a 6-year old caught in a lie or refusing to admit that he messed his pants…”

“Very damaging to the Watchtower and its policies. Even the elders are testifying that changes should be made.”

“The only help that the elders could offer an abuse victim was to point to some articles in past Watchtower and Awake! magazines and read a few Bible verses from the Book of Job and Ecclesiastes. That is both appalling and nonsense!”
